Adapting for growth
Following the huge success of Adapting For Growth phase 1 we are now ready to embark on phase 2. So much was achieved in phase 1, which took place in early 2025. We now have a fantastic, welcoming, and functional café, which has added so much to our church family life. This has created greater space for hospitality and a more versatile space for various groups, events, and courses.
As we move forward we are tasked with making further adjustments to this building, which for 104 years has been at the centre of a varied and continually evolving ministry as new generations use the building in their context to the glory of God and for the furthering of the Gospel.
The Kitchen
The new proposals would bring the kitchen up to modern standards as well as replace equipment that is no longer fit for purpose. This would involve the replacement of flooring and all cabinets.
There would be new tiles on the walls and new modern safety tiles ceiling tiles would be fitted on the ceiling. The catering-grade stainless steel work surfaces we currently have are in good condition and we are able to use them in the new kitchen. The cookers will be replaced by two high-spec domestic ovens and two induction hobs. We are able to keep the dishwasher, fridge, and freezer for now, which are all in fair condition. Some new kitchen equipment and utensils will also be purchased including pots and pans.
The aim of all these changes, beyond the replacement of broken equipment, is to create a kitchen that is easy to use for the teams who use it, to improve our hospitality as a church, and to allow us to host even bigger and more regular events.
